Japan Society to Present Reading of Ai Nagai’s Women in a Holy Mess

The Japan Society will present a reading of Ai Nagai’s contemporary Japanese play, Women in a Holy Mess, to be presented Monday, February 22 at 7:30pm. Cynthia Croot will direct.

The comedy is a portrayal of post-menopausal life, and explores the lives of three women and the camaraderie they have maintained over the years.

Nagai is playwright, director and leader of the theater company Nito-sha, which she founded with Shizuka Oishi in 1981. She is the recipient of multiple awards for her plays, including the Kishida Kunio Drama Award, Asahi Drama Awards Grand Prize, Tsuruya Namboku Drama Award, and Yomiuri Literature Award.
