Bryn Terfel’s New CD Bad Boys to Be Released April 13

Opera star Bryn Terfel’s new CD Bad Boys will be released by Deutsche Grammophon on April 13. The disc pays homage to unsavory villains of opera and musical theater and its release coincides with the performer’s appearance as Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera.

The characters that Terfel has chosen to portray on the disc range from Sweeney Todd (opposite Anne Sofie von Otter’s Mrs. Lovett) to Iago from Verdi’s Otello. The disc also features Terfel playing two versions of Satan from both Boito and Gounod’s opera versions of Goethe’s Faust. Additional characters who appear on the disc are the Balladeer from The Threepenny Opera, who sings Weill’s “Mack the Knife,” and Javert from Les Miserables.
