Bob Balaban, David Harbour, and Lea Thompson will join the previously announced Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin, and Billy Crudup in The Convincer, according to a report in Variety. Jill Sprecher is directing the film, which uses a screen play she’s co-written with Karen Sprecher.

Convincer focuses on a desperate insurance salesman who gets his hands on a rare violin. Filming has already begun in Minnesota.

Balaban won a Drama Desk Award for co-creating The Exonerated and was Tony-nominated for his performance in The Inspector General. He currently can be seen in the film Howl. Harbour was Tony-nominated for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, appeared in the Broadway production of the Coast of Utopia trilogy, and was also in the world premiere of Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still at the Geffen Playhouse. On screen he’s been seen in movies such as State of Play and Revolutionary Road. Thompson, perhaps best known for her work in the Back to the Future movies, appeared on Broadway in Cabaret and with L.A. Reprise series in musicals such as They’re Playing Our Song.
