Tony Award winner Betty Buckley will play Mrs. White during the first eight weeks of Ben Andron’s comedy White’s Lies, which will begin previews on March 22 at New World Stages. The production, which will officially open on April 12, will be directed by Bob Cline. Buckley joins the previously announced company that features Scott Patterson, Christy Carlson Romano, Peter Scolari, and Jimmy Ray Bennet.

The play concerns Joe White (Patterson), a successful lawyer and womanizing bachelor whose life changes when his mother (Buckley) drops a bombshell on him: she’s got cancer and her dying wish is to have a grandchild.

Buckley won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in Cats, received a Tony nomination for Triumph of Love, and an Olivier Award nomination for Sunset Boulevard. Additional Broadway credits include Carrie, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Song and Dance, Pippin, and 1776.
