101 Dalmatians Musical to Audition Dogs at Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden will hold auditions for dogs to win a “barking role” in The 101 Dalmatians Musical, which will play The Theater at Madison Square Garden, April 7-18. Auditions will be held on Thursday, February 11 from 2pm to 3pm.

Adapted from Dodie Smith’s 1957 novel (which is well known due to Disney’s beloved animated film version), 101 Dalmatians revolves around a canine family that must band together to overcome every hurdle and hardship in the most difficult times, including the machinations of Cruella de Vil. The tour is directed by Jerry Zaks and features a score by Dennis DeYoung and a book by B.T. McNicholl.

The auditions will be held for the first 101 patrons to register their dogs for the opportunity to determine the best bark in NYC in front of a panel of judges, including the stars of the show, live Dalmatians. The winning dog will have his or her bark featured in the opening barking concerto of The 101 Dalmatians Musical at The Theater at Madison Square Garden; a six month supply of Purina Dog Chow; four tickets to the 134th Annual Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden; and four tickets to opening night of The 101 Dalmatians Musical at The Theater at Madison Square Garden and a special recognition. Additionally, the first 101 patrons to audition their dogs will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a select performance of the musical during the engagement at MSG.
