Theodore Bikel, Sheldon Harnick and More to Celebrate Sholom Aleichem’s Birthday

Actor Theodore Bikel, pianist Tamara Brooks, accordionist Merima Kljuco, composer Sheldon Harnick, musical group The Klez Dispensers, and writers Pete Hamill and Bel Kaufman will take place in a gala event celebrating the 150th birthday of author Sholom Aleichem, to be held at 6pm on Saturday, March 7 at the Players Club.

The event, which will benefit The Players Foundation for Theatre Education, will be recorded for an upcoming television documentary and DVD.

The event will also include the premiere of the short documentary Memories of My Grandfather, Sholom Aleichem: From Odessa to New York, which features the participation of Kaufman (who is Aleichem’s granddaughter) and Harnick, who co-wrote the musical Fiddler on the Roof, based on Aleichem’s stories.
