Stage and screen star Ruby Dee will narrate Earl Robinson’s cantata, The Lonesome Train, at the Riverside Church, February 12 at 8pm. Lorca Peress will direct.

The performance will also include balladeer Michael Mark, barn-dance caller David Amram, banjo soloist Eric Weissberg, Richard Bourg as President Lincoln, and gospel preacher Tyrone Aiken, along with participants from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, The New York City Labor Chorus, and The Riverside Inspirational Choir.

The work, about a train bearing Lincoln’s body through the byways of America on its way to its final resting place, is being presented in honor of the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. The event will benefit The Riverside Food Pantry.
