Playwright Hugh Leonard Dies at 82
Hugh Leonard, who won the Tony Award for his play Da, has died in Dublin at age 82, according to published reports.
Leonard also received Tony Award nominations for his two other Broadway plays The au Pair Man and A Life, both of which had relatively short runs. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1988 film version of Da, which starred Barnard Hughes and Martin Sheen. Leonard also wrote extensively for British television, including working on the 1977 adaptation of Charles Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and daughter Danielle.
