Writer Fran Lebowitz will be the narrator for a staged reading of James Kirkwood’s Legends, starring Bryan Batt, Charles Busch, Whoopi Goldberg, and Lypsinka, which will be presented as a benefit for Friends in Deed at Town Hall on Monday, March 23. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Mark Waldrop will direct the reading.

The play is adapted by John Epperson (aka Lypsinka), and is about two glamorous, Hollywood has-beens and arch-rivals forced to consider working together on a new project to resuscitate their careers.

The work was originally presented on a pre-Broadway tour in 1986, starring Carol Channing and Mary Martin, and closed on the road. A 2007 pre-Broadway tour starring Dynasty veterans Joan Collins and Linda Evans also did not make it to New York

The creative team will include Ray Klausen (sets), Fabio Toblini (costumes), and Matt Berman (lighting and sound).
