Stage and screen veteran Karen Grassle will star with Edward Sarafian in the TheatreWorks’ production of Kathleen Clark’s Southern Comforts, to play the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto, California, March 5-30. The production, which will open officially on March 8, will be directed by Joy Carlin.

Clark’s two-hander involves an older widow and widower who fall in love between baseball games and thunderstorms. Her other plays include The Bewitching Hour, Banner, and Secrets of a Soccer Mom.

Grassle’s stage credits include the Broadway productions of The Gingham Dog, Butterflies Are Free, and Sweet Sue; she is best known for playing Caroline Ingalls on the hit television series Little House on the Prairie. Sarafian has previously appeared at TheatreWorks in such shows as The Elephant Man, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and Ah, Wilderness.
