The Public Theater has announced its summer Shakespeare in the Park line-up, which will include Hamlet, to be presented May 27-June 29 and Hair, July 22-August 17. All performances will be at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.

Michael Stuhlbarg will star in the title role of Hamlet, while Richard Easton will play Polonius. The Public’s artistic director Oskar Eustis will direct. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Diane Paulus, who directed the successful 40th anniversary concert celebration of Hair last September in the park, will once again take the helm in Shakespeare in the Park’s full staging of the rock musical. As in the concert, the cast will star Jonathan Groff as Claude and Will Swenson as Berger. The full company from the concert has been invited back, but complete casting has not yet been confirmed.

Stuhlbarg received a Drama Desk Award and a Tony nomination for The Pillowman. Easton won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League awards for The Invention of Love, and is currently represented Off-Broadway with New Jerusalem.

Groff is currently starring in Spring Awakening, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. Swenson’s Broadway credits include 110 In The Shade, Lestat, and Brooklyn.
