Gerald Freedman, John Guare to Speak at Public Theater

Rosemarie Tichler, former artistic director of the Public Theater, will host a discussion with acclaimed director Gerald Freedman and Tony Award-winning playwright John Guare entitled Looking At The Early Years of the Public Theater, immediately following the Friday, February 22 performance of Adrienne Kennedy’s Mom, How Did You Meet the Beatles?

Freedman served as leading director of the New York Shakespeare Festival from 1960-1971, and was artistic director for the last four years of that tenure. On Broadway, Freedman directed The Robber Bridegroom, The Grand Tour, The Creation of the World and Other Business, and Mrs. Warren’s Profession. Guare is the author of The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, Landscape of the Body, and the musical Two Gentlemen of Verona, which has been presented twice by the Public.
