Fantasticks Actor Robert R. Oliver Dead at 68

Robert R. Oliver, who played the role of Mortimer in the current Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks, died February 4 of a heart attack, a press representative for the show has confirmed. He was 68.

The actor was taken to the hospital on Sunday night, prior to the 7pm performance, but was released later that evening. His death comes only weeks prior to the end of the run of The Fantasticks, which will shutter later this month on February 24.

Oliver’s previous credits include the original run of The Fantasticks at Sullivan Street Playhouse, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Girl Crazy, My Fair Lady, and Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding.
