Diane Paulus to Direct Chicago Opera’s Don Giovanni

Renowned theater director Diane Paulus and conductor Jane Fowler will reunite for the Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, April 30-May 11.

The cast will feature Iain Paterson in the title role, alongside Matt Boehler (Leporello), Michael Colvin (Don Ottavio), Rhoslyn Jones (Donna Anna), Kevin Langan (Commendatore), Isabel Leonard (Zerlina), Krisztina Szabó (Donna Elvira), and Benjamin Wager (Masetto). The creative team includes set designer Riccardo Hernandez, costume designer David Woolard, and lighting designer Aaron Black.

Up next will be John Adams’ The Flowering Tree, May 14-25, directed by Nicola Raab, with choreography by Renato Zanella. The cast of 24 is led by soprano Natasha Jouhl as Kumudha, tenor Noah Stewart as the Prince, and baritone Sanford Sylvan as the Storyteller. The design team comprises production designer George Souglides, lighting designer Aaron Black, and sound designer Mark Grey.

The spring season concludes with Handel’s Orlando, May 28-June 8, directed by Justin Way and conducted by Raymond Leppard. The cast stars Tim Mead (Orlando), Andriana Chuchman (Dorinda), Kate Mangiameli (Angelica), Oliver Neal Medina (Zoroastro), and David Trudgen (Medoro). The opera will feature production design by Andrew Hays and Kimm Kovac, and lighting design by Aaron Black.
