LAByrinth Theater Company member Brett C. Leonard has won the 2008 Creative Spirit Award, which was founded 12 years ago to celebrate gifted theatre artists and provide them with support as they develop new work in an artistic residency.

Leonard’s new play UNCONDITIONAL opens later this month. His other playwriting credits include Guinea Pig Solo, Roger and Vanessa, Scotch and Water and Interrogation. His debut feature film Jailbait starred Michael Pitt and Stephen Adly Guirgis.

At the awards presentation on February 4, producer Daryl Roth commented: “Brett Leonard embodies what is best about LAByrinth and The Creative Spirit Award. He is a courageous, thoughtful, talented artist, and a brave writer who explores the layers of relationships and interpersonal dynamics in a challenging and exciting way.”
