Full cast and creative team have been announced for the La Jolla Playhouse’s production of Moises Kaufman’s 33 Variations, to run April 8-May 4.

The piece, to be directed by Kaufman, concerns a contemporary musicologist’s artistic exploration of Beethoven’s inexplicable obsession with a simple waltz by Anton Diabelli.
The show had its world premiere last summer at the Arena Stage in Washington D.C.

The cast will feature Don Amendolia (Anton Diabelli), Jayne Atkinson (Katherine Brandt), Greg Keller (Mike Clark), Zach Grenier (Ludwig von Beethoven), Susan Kellerman (Gertie Ladenburger), Laura Odeh (Clara Brandt), Erik Steele (Anton Schindler), and Diane Walsh (Pianist).

The creative team features Derek McLane (sets), Janice Pytel (costumes), David Lander (lighting), Andre Pluess (sound), and Jeffrey Sugg (projections).
