Edward Albee to Be Honored by New Dramatists

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Edward Albee will be honored by New Dramatists with their 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award at their 58th Annual Benefit Luncheon, to be held on Thursday, May 17 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Albee is perhaps best known for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which is currently in the midst of national tour with Bill Irwin and Kathleen Turner repeating their roles of George and Martha from the recent Broadway revival. In addition, his lesser known work The Lady from Dubuque opens at London’s Haymarket Theater next month with Dame Maggie Smith in the title role. His many other plays include The Zoo Story, Tiny Alice, Seascape, A Delicate Balance, Three Tall Women, and The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?.

Previous recipients of the award have included Chita Rivera, Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Sondheim, and George C. Wolfe.
