Tony Award winners Walter Bobbie and Judy Kaye will headline the City Center Encores! production of Face the Music, featuring a score by Irving Berlin and a book by Moss Hart, March 29-April 1.

The production will be directed John Rando, with musical direction by Rob Fisher, and choreography by Randy Skinner. The concert adaptation will be by David Ives. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic consultant), Toni-Leslie James (costume consultant), Clifton Taylor (lighting), and Scott Lehrer (sound).

The principal cast will also feature Jeffery Denman, Felicia Finley, Chris Hoch, Mylinda Hull, Eddie Korbich, Meredith Patterson, Timothy Shew, and Lee Wilkof. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

First produced on Broadway in 1932, Face the Music concerns a desperate producer trying to raise money for his latest Broadway revue. For investors, he finds crooked New York City policemen who want to lose all their dirty money. Although the show flops on opening night, it becomes a smash hit when racy material is added and the Vice Squad tries to shut it down.

Bobbie’s acting credits include Grease, I Love My Wife, and Guys and Dolls. He received the Tony for his direction of the revival of Chicago, which began at Encores; his other directing credits include Sweet Charity, Tweniteth Century and High Fidelity. Kaye received Tony Awards for On the Twentieth Century and The Phantom of the Opera and nominations for Mamma Mia! and Souvenir. Her other stage credits include Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, and Zorba.
