Tim Curry will reprise his Tony Award-nominated role as King Arthur in the London production of Monty Python’s Spamalot, which will begin performances at the Palace Theatre on October 2. The show will open officially on October 17, and tickets are now on sale through March 31, 2007.

The show’s cast will include Tom Goodman-Hill as Sir Lancelot, Robert Hands as Sir Robin, Hannah Waddingham as The Lady of the Lake, and David Birrell as Patsy. Simon Russell Beale, who is currently playing Arthur on Broadway, will succeed Curry in January 2007.

As on Broadway, Spamalot will be directed by Mike Nichols. It features a score by Eric Idle and John DuPrez, a book by Idle, choreographer by Casey Nicholaw, set and costume design by Tim Hatley, and lighting design by Hugh Vanstone. The Broadway production won three Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director for Nichols; it was also named Best Musical by the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle.
