TV star Stephen Schnetzer has taken over the role of Martin in the Lyric Stage Company production of Edward Albee’s The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia? from actor Patrick Shea, who withdrew last week for personal reasons. The show’s official opening in Boston is now slated for February 24.

Directed by Spiro Veloudos, The Goat also stars Paula Plum, Richard Snee, and Tasso Feldman. The production team includes Brynna C. Bloomfield (set design), Shanna Parks (costume design), and Robert Cordella (lighting design).

Schnetzer performed the role of Martin on Broadway, as understudy to Bill Pullman, and at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. His other New York stage credits include A Talent for Murder, Timon of Athens, Miss Julie, and The Lisbon Traviata. The actor is best known for his two-decade stint as Cass Winthrop on the NBC soap Another World, a role he has also played on CBS’s Guiding Light and As The World Turns. Additionally, he has had major roles on the daytime dramas Days of Our Lives and One Life to Live. Schnetzer has also been seen on Law & Order, and he will begin filming another episode of that hit prime-time drama on Tuesday.
