Spamalot Cast Album Wins Grammy Award

The original cast album of Monty Python’s Spamalot has won this year’s Grammy Award for Best Musical Show album. The Grammys were presented on February 8 in Los Angeles.

The other nominees in the category were the cast albums of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Light in the Piazza, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and the Actors’ Fund Concert of Hair.

Other Grammy winners of note were Tony Bennett, who took home the award for Best Traditional Vocal Album for The Art of Romance; Burt Bachrach, who won Best Pop Instrumental Album for At This Time; Dianne Reeves, who won Best Jazz Vocal Album for Good Night, and Good Luck; and Marlo Thomas and Friends, who won Best Spoken Word Album for Children for Thanks and Giving All Year Long.
