New York Philharmonic Slates Concert Performances of Company, Plus New Year’s Eve Gala with Audra McDonald

The New York Philharmonic will present a semi-staged concert version of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical Company next season, as well as a gala New Year’s Eve concert featuring Audra McDonald.

Company, Sondheim’s landmark 1970 musical about a Manhattan bachelor and his circle of friends and lovers, will be performed March 7-10, 2007 at Avery Fisher Hall; Paul Gemignani will conduct the Philharmonic, and the production will be directed by Lonny Price. Casting will be announced at a later date.

McDonald, a four-time Tony Award winner, will appear with the Philharmonic on December 31, 2006 at Avery Fisher Hall. The orchestra will be conducted by her musical director, Ted Sperling. The program for this concert has not yet been announced.
