Tony Award winner Debra Monk, Lawrence Pressman, Ty Burrell, and Judy Greer will star in the world premiere of Paul Weitz’s Show People, which will run at Second Stage, March 16-April 30. The production, to be directed by Peter Askin, will open officially on April 6.

The play centers on a pair of out-of-work Broadway actors (Monk and Pressman) who take a wildly unorthodox job working for a rich, young banker (Burrell). Weitz’s previous plays include Privilege and Roulette. A successful film director and writer, his work includes American Pie, About a Boy (for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay), and In Good Company. His new film, American Dreamz, starring Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, and Mandy Moore, is set to open in April.

The show’s creative team includes Heidi Ettinger (set design), Jeff Mahshie (costume design), Jeff Crotier (lighting design), and Lewis Flinn (sound design). In addition to directing Privilege, Askin’s credits include The Good Body, Trumbo, Sexhaolix, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Monk won the Tony for Redwood Curtain and received Tony nominations for Steel Pier and Picnic. She was most recently on Broadway as Mama Morton in Chicago. Pressman won the Theater World Award for Never Live Over a Pretzel Factory and has since starred on Broadway in Play it Again, Sam and The Man in the Glass Booth. Burrell co-starred in the Signature Theatre production of Burn This and currently stars in the CBS sitcom Out of Practice. Greer can currently be seen in the CBS series Love Monkey.
