Eakes, Goldsberry, Newman, Pelphrey, Raines, Zimmer Are Among Daytime Emmy Nominees

Renée Elise Goldsberry, who appeared this season in the Broadway production of The Color Purple and the Shakespeare in the Park production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, and Ron Raines, who has been seen on Broadway in Chicago and Teddy and Alice, are among the nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards. The ceremony will be held on April 28 in Los Angeles.

Goldsberry, who was nominated as Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, plays attorney Evangeline Williamson on One Life to Live. Raines, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series, plays corporate bigwig Alan Spaulding on Guiding Light.

Other nominees with significant theatrical credits include Guiding Light stars Kim Zimmer (Best Actress), Robert Newman (Best Actor), and Tom Pelphrey (Best Younger Actor). Recording artist and cabaret performer Bobbie Eakes was nominated as Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Krystal Chandler on All My Chidren. Among the nominees in other categories are Ellen DeGeneres, Martha Stewart, Alex Trebek, Rachael Ray, and Suze Orman.
