DeLaria, Goede, McLaughlin to Headline McCarter-Paper Mill Production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Lea DeLaria, Jay Goede, and Ellen McLaughlin will head the cast of Tina Landau’s production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream that will play Princeton’s McCarter Theatre, March 21-April 16. The show will then travel to Millburn’s Paper Mill Playhouse, April 19-May 21.

This unusual production will feature music by the pop-folk-rock trio GrooveLily, who will perform onstage. The cast will also include Guy Adkins, Will Fowler, James Martinez, Stacey Sargeant, Brenda Withers, Karl Christian, Demond Green, Reginald Holden Jennings, Adam Lobato, Christopher Mai, Jess Nager, Ryan Overberg, and Stephen Payne.

The show’s creative team will include Louisa Thompson (sets), Michael Krass (costumes), Scott Zielinski (lighting), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound), and Christopher Harrison (aerial). Landau’s directing credits include the Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing, Floyd Collins, Dream True, and Of Thee I Sing.

DeLaria, who will play Bottom, has been seen on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show and On the Town, and Off-Broadway in Little Fish, Happy Days, and The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. Goede, who will play Oberon/Theseus, has starred on Broadway in A Year With Frog & Toad, Angels in America, and Sex and Longing, and was recently seen Off-Broadway in Landau’s production of Miracle Brothers. McLaughlin, who will play Titania/Hippolyta, starred on Broadway in Angels in America, and has been seen regionally in Top Girls, King Lear, and Ghosts.
