David, Duquesnay, Nixon to Headline Hot Feet; Complete Cast Announced

Keith David, Ann Duquesnay, and Vivian Nixon will headline the cast of the new musical Hot Feet. The show, which is to be directed and choregoraphed by Maurice Hines, will now begin its Broadway run at the Hilton Theatre on April 18, with an official opening still slated for April 30. It will first play Washington, D.C.’s National Theater, March 18-April 9.

Hot Feet has a score by Maurice White, the founder of the legendary pop group Earth, Wind and Fire, and will include some of the group’s biggest hits. It has a book by Heru Ptah. The story is a variation on the classic tale “The Red Shoes,” about a young dancer who makes a Faustian bargain in her quest for stardom.

The show’s cast will also include Michael Balderrama, Allen Hidalgo, Wynonna Smith, and Sarah Livingston, along with Kevin Aubin, Brent Carter, Gerrard Carter, Dionne Figgins, Ramon Flowers, Keith Anthony Fluitt, Karla Puno Garcia, Nakia Henry, Duane Lee Holland, Dana Marie Ingraham, Iquail S. Johnson, Terace Jones, Dominique Kelley, Matthew Warner Keirenan, Steve Konopelski, Sumie Maeda, Jon-Paul Mateo, Vasthy E. Mompoint, Tera-Lee Polin, Samatha Pollino, Sandra Reaves-Phillips, Danita Salamida, Caesar Samayoa, Monique Smith, Daryl Spiers, Felicity Stiverson, and Hollie E. Wright. Its creative team includes James Noone (sets), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Clifton Taylor (lighting), and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).

David received a Tony Award nomination for Jelly’s Last Jam and has also been seen on Broadway in Seven Guitars and Hedda Gabler. Duquesnay won the Tony Award for Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk. Her other Broadway credits include Jelly’s Last Jam, The Wiz, and Blues in the Night. Nixon, who will be making her Broadway debut in the lead role of Kalimba, is the daughter of actress/choreographer Debbie Allen and the niece of Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad.
