The one-and-only Chita Rivera opened her fabulous new club act, titled And Now I Sing, last night at Feinstein’s at the Regency. Here she is at the after-party, all aglow. (To access Michael Portantiere’s recent interview with Chita, click here.)
Her old pal and former co-star Liza Minnelli, fresh from her own triumphant concert appearances in Westbury, was on hand to cheer Chita and to pose for pix.
Here’s a solo shot of Liza with a “z.”
And how’s this for a photo: Chita with Martin Richards (left), a co-producer of both the original Broadway production and the film version of Chicago, and John Kander, composer of that show — not to mention such others as Cabaret, Zorba, Woman of the Year, and the recent Rivera vehicle The Visit — in collaboration with his late partner, Fred Ebb.
Also present for the festivities: the legendary nightclub entertainer Bobby Short…
…Latin jazz great Willie Colon…
…and journalist Rex Reed with Broadway veteran Harvey Evans.
We leave you with two more photos of Chita and friends. Here she is with fashion designer Donald Deal…
…and here she is with Brian Stokes Mitchell, who recently completed an engagement at Feinstein’s, and wife Allyson Tucker.
