Something is "Happening" at chashama, February 25-29

Currently located at 135 West 42nd Street, chashama [sic] is moving to make way for the new Bank of America building. Before the move, the theater company will turn over its current 7,000-square-foot headquarters for artists to use for performances and visual art installations in a special event called “The Happening,” set to begin on Wednesday, February 25.

Painting and music will be a part of the celebration, which will also feature veteran chashama performance artist Dan McKereghan in the windows for an 80-hour live performance marathon. Soon, chashama will take up residence on the third floord of the Food Court (234 West 42nd Street), part of the AMC Theaterplex; that space will be used for rehearsals, theatrical readings, and a visual arts gallery. (The company’s storefront space and administrative offices are located on East 42nd Street).

The 135 West 42nd Street venue will be open for “The Happening” from noon to midnight, February 25 to February 27, and for 24 consecutive hours from noon on February 28 to noon on February 29. The event is free and open to the public.
