Captain Louie, a new family musical by Stephen Schwartz, the award-winning composer-lyricist of Pippin, Godspell, and next season’s Wicked, will have a reading in the ASCAP Living Room on March 3 and 4.

Based on Ezra Jack Keats’s picture book The Trip, the musical tells the story of a boy who escapes into his imagination to cope with the loneliness he feels because his family has just moved to a new neighborhood. Adapted for the stage by Anthony Stein, Captain Louie was originally produced as part of the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration in 1984; this new, expanded version will be presented by Plain Language Productions, directed by Meridee Stein and with musical direction by Jason DeBord.

Captain Louie will be performed at 4pm on March 3 and 4 in the ASCAP Living Room (Broadway at 63rd Street, seventh floor). For additional information or reservations, phone Plain Language Productions at 212-996-8055
