New York City Gay Men’s Chorus Says Viva La Diva! at Avery Fisher Hall, March 10

On Monday, March 10, the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus will celebrate the women of musical theater and opera with a concert titled Viva La Diva!

Conducted by Jeffrey Maynard, the concert will feature special guests Jenifer Lewis (The Diva is Dismissed, Jackie’s Back!, Lifetime TV’s Strong Medicine), Jimmy James (drag performer and vocal impersonator of Bette Davis, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, etc.), Terri White (a Tony Award nominee for Barnum), and opera singers Debby Lennon and Indra Thomas.

The program will include the song “Diva” from the 1989 musical Starmites (performed by the chorus with Terri White), “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” from Evita (with Debby Lennon), and selections from Hairspray (with Jenifer Lewis), plus Indra Thomas singing “Vissi d’Arte” from Tosca and Jimmy James singing “I Got It Bad and That Ain’t Good.”
