Naked Angels Presents Fear: An Issues Project

Naked Angels has announced that the next installment of its “Issues Project” series, titled Fear, will open on Thursday, February 13.

The company has been presenting various works as part of the series since 1989. Past productions include Homeless (1989), Naked Truth — Ten Takes on Censorship (1990), Human Rights (1991), Women (1993), Naked Faith (1995), Naked and Hate Free (1996), and Gunplay (1997). The last-named production received a letter of commendation from President Bill Clinton.

Fear is a program of eight one-act plays written by Jon Robin Baitz (Ten Unknowns, The Substance of Fire), Patrick Breen (Just a Kiss), Will Eno (The Flu Season), David Marshall Grant (Snakebit, Current Events), Pippin Parker (September, Anesthesia), Seth Zvi Rosenfeld (The Flatted Fifth, King of New York), Sheri Wilner (Bake-Off), and recent Columbia graduate Deirdre O’Connor.

The plays will be directed by Hal Brooks (Rude Mechanicals’ Valparaiso), Lizzie Gottlieb (Evolution, Nicky), Rob Morrow (Showtime’s Street Time, HBO’s OZ and Maze), Geoffrey Nauffts (Tape), Frank Pugliese (Hesh, Some Voices), Fisher Stevens (Just a Kiss), Anastasia Traina (Urban Empire and Zoetrope’s The Mystery in the Middle of an Ordinary Life), and George Xenos. Asaki Oda will design the sets, Peter Hoerburger the lights, Brad Scoggins the costumes, and Stanley Gurzcak the sound.

The cast of Fear will include Amy Irving (Ghosts, Three Sisters), Timothy Britten Parker (Rent), James Urbaniak (Henry Fool, [sic]), Dominic Chianese (TV’s The Sopranos), Peter Frechette (The Dazzle), Jen Albano (200 Cigarettes), Kapil Bawa, (11:09:01), Kim Parker (You Can Count On Me), Matthew Dawson (Joe Fearless, The Pink House), Mary McCann (an Atlantic Theatre regular), Shirley A. Rumierk (a 52nd Street Project alum), and Danny Javier Rivera (a member of Teatro El Puente).
