Cirque du Soleil has announced that the company has created a new division, Cirque du Soleil Theatrical, which will be headed by Scott Zeiger. Zeiger, a producer and the cofounding partner of BASE Entertainment, will serve as president and managing director of the division.

Cirque du Soleil Theatrical will continue to promote Cirque du Soleil's ongoing strategy of diversifying its content and activities worldwide. As its head, Zeiger will develop unique theatrical opportunities for Cirque du Soleil that will be based on traditional theatrical practices, while utilizing the Cirque du Soleil signature style and aesthetic.

The company also expects that Zeiger's leadership will enable Cirque Eloize, a Cirque du Soleil sister company, to take its development and promotion in theatrical venues to a new level.

"This new venture for Cirque is very exciting for me and I look forward to developing new theatrical productions and having access to the best creative talent in the world," said Zeiger in a statement. "I believe there is a huge potential for us on Broadway, the West End and global touring."
