On Monday, February 3, Liana Hunt joins the cast of Newsies in the leading role of Katherine Plumber, taking over for original cast member Kara Lindsay who departs the production February 2.

Hunt's previous credits include the role of Sophie in the Broadway and national touring productions of Mamma Mia!, Éponine in Les Misérables, and Belle in a regional production of Beauty and the Beast. She joined the company of Newsies in February 2013.

Hunt will perform opposite Corey Cott, who stars in the role of Jack Kelly, along with John Dossett (Joseph Pulitzer), Lavon Fisher-Wilson (Medda Larkin), Ben Fankhauser (Davey), Andy Richardson (Crutchie), and Luca Padovan and Zachary Unger (alternating the role of Les).

Newsies is inspired by the 1992 film of the same name and tells the story of a group of tenacious newsboys at the turn of the last century who band together to form a union and lead a strike after selling prices are raised. Featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, Newsies earned 2012 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Choreography.
