Euan Morton and the six-piece jazz ensemble Grandpa Musselman & His Syncopators will launch the Live From Gramercy Park cabaret series at The Players Club in two performances on January 27. Morton received an Olivier Award nomination for originating the role of Boy George in the musical Taboo. He reprised the role on Broadway, earning a Tony nomination.
Morton and the band will perform a repertoire of turn-of-the-century ragtime, 1920s jazz, and depression-era swing by composers such as Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, and Duke Ellington.
Those who attend the performances, which will be taped, are invited to wear 1920s and 1930s attire.
