Will the Queen Musical We Will Rock You Come to Broadway?

According to Queen member Brian May, it just might.

By New York City

Is Broadway in for some bohemian rhapsodizing?

We Will Rock You, the long-running, London-based Queen musical is finally heading back to the United States – and may even come to New York -- according to a blog post from Queen member and co-music supervisor Brian May.

"We are also finally pressing the button on that USA WWRY tour," the guitarist wrote in a blog post earlier this month. "It will sit down in NYC for a while too!"

While nothing has been formally announced about a New York engagement, the American tour of the futuristic rock musical will begin in the fall of this year via the touring organization NETworks Presentations. A previously planned American tour was cancelled in favor of a short-lived production at the Paris Las Vegas in 2004.

Now in its eleventh year at London's Dominion Theatre, We Will Rock You, featuring a book by Ben Elton (Love Never Dies) and the songs of Queen members May, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor, is set three hundred years in the future, in a world where music is banned, songs are generated by computers, everyone thinks the same thoughts, and a Killer Queen (see what they did there?) rules all. Except for the rebellious Galileo Figaro (get it?) and his goth pal, Scaramouche (you know, from the song), who take it upon themselves to defeat the Killer Queen and bring music back into the world – with a little help from a certain rock band. The score includes Queen's legendary tunes, like the title number, "Killer Queen," as well as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Under Pressure," and "We Are the Champions."
