Peter and the Starcatcher Says Goodbye to Broadway With a Tear-filled Curtain Call
Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony Award-winning prequel to Peter Pan, bid farewell to Broadway and the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it played over 300 performances, on Sunday, January 20. The play with music, inspired by a young adult novel of the same name, written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, will continue its life in New York off-Broadway, beginning performances this coming March at New World Stages.
The production’s final Broadway curtain call was a bittersweet occasion, with the show’s Tony nominated co-directors, Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, and its playwright, Rick Elice, tearfully taking the stage to thank the cast, crew, and house staff for their hard and dedicated work. With the cast and audience looking on, Elice helped the show say goodbye to Broadway with a sign that simply read “To be continued…”
