Great Performances catering company is trying to raise $12 thousand through Kickstarter for its upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors. Yes, I said catering company.

The New York City business, in keeping with tradition, is staffed entirely by professional actors, musicians, and other struggling artists. Rather than separating their day and night jobs, these artists marry the two by producing their own shows. They developed their first last year, a production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, which received attention by both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. They are now raising funds to put on a production of Alan Menken’s 1982 comedy-horror-rock musical, Little Shop of Horrors—an appropriate choice as we’re sure this campaign has the Great Performances’ crew dreaming of “somewhere that’s green.”
