Two-Headed Calf’s You, My Mother will receive its world premiere in La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, February 9-20. Brooke O’Harra will direct.
Created by composer Brendan Connelly, playwright Karinne Keithley Syers, Obie Award-winning composer Rick Burkhardt, and playwright Kristen Kosmas, You, My Mother is an opera project in two parts, with music performed by Yarn/Wire + Strings. It is an investigation into the ever-shifting relationships between mothers and their adult children.
Performers will include Laryssa Husiak and Mike Mikos, along with vocalists Kate Soper and Beth Griffith.
Yarn/Wire+ Strings is comprised of Ian Antonio (percussion), Laura Barger (piano), Russell Greenberg (percussion), Joshua Modney (violin), Mariel Roberts (cello), and Ning Yu (keyboard).
The creative team will also include Barbara Lanciers (choreography), Ahram Jeong and Yoonkyung Lim (projection design), Chris Kuhl and Justin Townsend (set and lighting design), and Alice Taverner (costume design).
