Stage and screen star Margaret Colin will guest star in a March episode of CBS' hit drama Blue Bloods, according to TVLine.com.

The actress will play Melanie, a high profile investigative reporter for an international cable news network who has been involved with policeman Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) in a discreet long-distance romance.

Colin won a Theatre World Award for her role in the Broadway play Jackie. She has also appeared on Broadway in Arcadia, Old Acquaintance, and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. She received Drama Desk Award nominations for the Off-Broadway plays Defiance and Aristocrats.

She currently has a recurring role on Gossip Girl. Her many film and television credits include Independence Day, Three Men and a Baby, Sibs, Foley Square, Magnum P.I,and the daytime dramas As The World Turns and The Edge of Night.
