With music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Peter Duchan, based on the movie of the same name, the show, set in 1963, centers on a group of three young Marines on the eve of their deployment to a small, but growing, conflict in Southeast Asia. Before they leave, the young men set out for a night of debauchery, partying, and maybe a little trouble, and find that an awkward and idealistic waitress who's recruited as part of a cruel bet, provides a lesson in the power of compassion.
