During the week ending on January 1, the musical played a 9-show holiday schedule, with the gross for the week totaling $2,941,790.20, exceeding the previous record of $2,228,235 which was set by Wicked in 2011.
Numerous other Broadway shows posted record-breaking amounts, including Wicked, which grossed over $2.7 million at the Gershwin Theatre. The Book of Mormon earned $1,752,601, breaking the O'Neill Theatre's house record for the 24th time, and the Broadway production of The Lion King, now at the Minskoff Theatre, grossed a house record of $2,444,032.
The revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying also broke the box office record at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, grossing $1,910,224 for nine performances. The week was the final one for stars Daniel Radcliffe and Tony Award winner John Larroquette.
