Meredith Monk, Henry Rollins, John Patrick Shanley, Debra Winger et al. Set for Brainwave 2011

Participants have been announced for Brainwave 2011, The Rubin Museum’s conversation series exploring the human mind. This year’s focus is on the relationship between dreams and creativity, prophecy and consciousness.

The series will kick off on February 7 with a conversation between spoken-word artist Henry Rollins and neuroscientist David Eagleman.

Subsequent conversations will feature composer and performance artist Meredith Monk (February 11); prize-winning writer Nathan Englander (February 27); art historian David Freedberg (March 2); best-selling author Amy Tan (March 5); novelist Meir Shalev (March 6); writer Siri Hustvedt (March 6); painter David Salle (March 9); Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley (March 11); thriller writer Scott Turow (March 16); actress Debra Winger (March 20); fantasy author Graham Joyce (March 23); puppeteer Roman Paska (March 30); playwright Frank McGuiness (April 9); meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg (April 13); and spiritual teacher Lama Lhanang Rinpoche (April 20).
