Television and film star Lamman Rucker will perform alongside playwright Layon Gray in the latter’s historical drama Black Angels Over Tuskegee, which will make its Off-Broadway premiere at the St. Luke’s Theater, with previews beginning January 29 in anticipation of a February opening.

Based on true events, the play is about the first African-American fighter pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. The cast will also include Demetrius Gross, Thom Scott II, Antonio Charity, David Wendell Boykins, Derek Shaun, Jay Jones, and Rich Skidmore.

Rucker played Sheriff Troy in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married, and will repeat his role in Perry’s forthcoming Why Did I Get Married Too. Other film and television credits include Meet the Browns, House of Payne, and Half & Half.
