Corbin Bleu, Janet Dacal, David Del Rio to Star in Broadway’s In the Heights

Janet Dacal will rejoin the Broadway company of In the Heights at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in the role of Nina on February 19. She will replace Mandy Gonzalez who will play her final performance on January 31. From February 1 through February 18, the role of Nina will alternate between understudies Nina Lafarga, Courtney Reed, and Gabrielle Ruiz.

Additionally, David Del Rio will join the show on February 15, assuming the role of Sonny from original cast member Robin de Jesús who will play his final performance on February 14.

As previously reported, former High School Musical star Corbin Bleu will take over the lead role of Usnavi on Tuesday, January 25.

As of February 19, the company also will feature Andréa Burns, Marcy Harriell, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Rick Négron, Courtney Reed, William B. Wingfield, Tony Chiroldes, Dwayne Clark, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Ruben Flores, Marcus Paul James, Nina Lafarga, Jennifer Locke, Doreen Montalvo, Gabrielle Ruiz, Luis Salgado, Kevin Santos, Rickey Tripp, Michael Balderrama, Blanca Camacho, Stephanie Klemons, Allison Thomas Lee, Alejandra Reyes, Jon Rua, and Marcos Santana.

Heights is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Featuring music and lyrics by Lin Manuel Miranda, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, the musical focuses on the tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan and the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition.
