Nicole Parker to Be Broadway Wicked‘s New Elphaba

Nicole Parker will take over the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, performing at the Gershwin Theatre, beginning January 16.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The production also includes Alli Mauzey as Glinda, Jayne Houdyshell as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Brynn O’Malley as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. Aaron Tveit will return to the role of Fiyero on January 20. The role of Elphaba is currently being played by Marcie Dodd.

Parker is best known for her work on MADtv, and made her Broadway debut in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. Other theater credits include Fuente Ovejuna, The Magic Flute, and Second City’s Romeo and Juliet Musical.
