Michael Feinstein, Savion Glover, Kelli O’Hara, Paolo Szot, and More Set for Carnegie Hall 2009-2010 Season

Carnegie Hall has announced programming for its 2009-2010 season, which will consist of 180 performances and numerous educational events.

The New York Pops, under the direction of music director and conductor Steven Reineke, will showcase a number of guest artists in its series of concerts. Emmy Award winner Wayne Brady will be featured in Wayne Brady’s Sammy and Sam: A Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. and Sam Cooke, on October 9. Anne Hampton Callaway and N’Kenge will participate in Too Marvelous for Words: A Johnny Mercer Centennial Concert, on November 20. Five-time Grammy winner Sandi Patty and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City will join the Pops and conductor John Morris Russell for a holiday concert on December 18 and 19. Irish tenor Ronan Tynan, Méav, Liz Knowles, and Kieran O’Hare will be featured in Celtic Music: A Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 12. South Pacific stars Kelli O’Hara and Paolo Szot and the Cluman Singers will join the Pops for The Best of Lerner and Loewe, on April 16.

One of the centerpieces of the Carnegie Hall season is Ancient Paths, Modern Voices: Celebrating Chinese Culture (October 21-November 10), a citywide festival exploring China’s diverse and vibrant culture and its influence around the world with 21 days of events at Carnegie Hall and partner institutions.

Additional highlights will include Michael Feinstein in Standard Time (October 7, March 10), Yo Yo Ma and Emmanuel Ax (January 29), Brazilian pianist and singer Eliane Elias (February 17), Savion Glover with Greetje Bijma and Louis Andriessen in Three Nautie Boys and Three Crazy Girls (April 14), Mezzo-Soprano Frederica von Stade (April 22), and trumpet player Jon Faddis (April 29).
