Jane Fonda and Moises Kaufman Set for February 23 "Times Talk"

Jane Fonda and Moises Kaufman, the star and writer-director of the upcoming Broadway play 33 Variations, will participate in a New York Times “Times Talk” on Monday, February 23 at the TimesCenter (242 West 41st Street). It will be moderated by reporter Patrick Healy.

The show, which will play the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, February 9-May 24, tells the story of Katherine Brandt, who tries to solve a centuries-old mystery about the world’s greatest composer. Katherine’s obsession takes her from present-day New York to 19th century Austria. As the music that consumes Katherine comes to life on stage, she races against time to find common ground with her daughter and to embrace the legacy of her own life.

The show’s cast includes Don Amendolia (Anton Diabelli), Zach Grenier (Beethoven), Colin Hanks (Mike Clark), Susan Kellermann (Dr. Gertie Ladenburger), Samantha Mathis (Clara Brandt), Erik Steele (Anton Schindler), and Diane Walsh (pianist). The design team will include Derek McLane (sets), Janice Pytel and David C. Woolard (costumes), David Lander (lighting), André Pluess (sound), Jeff Sugg (projections), and Daniel Pelzig (choreography).

Fonda received a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway debut in the 1960 play There Was a Little Girl. Her credits include Invitation to a March, The Fun Couple, and Strange Interlude. She earned Oscars for Klute and Coming Home and an Emmy Award for her performance in The Dollmaker. Kaufman directed I Am My Own Wife and co-wrote and directed The Laramie Project.
