Brandi Burkhardt to Be Broadway Mamma Mia!‘s New Sophie

Brandi Burkhardt will take over the role of Sophie Sheridan in the Broadway production of Mamma Mia!, currently at the Winter Garden Theatre, beginning January 27.
She replaces Allison Case, who departs on January 25.

The musical, which uses the songs of ABBA, follows the story of a forty-something mother planning her daughter’s wedding — unaware that the girl has invited three men who might be her father. It is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.

Burkhardt was most recently seen on Broadway as “Lucie Manette” in A Tale of Two Cities. Other theater credits include Lil’ Abner and Jekyll & Hyde: Resurrection. She also starred on NBC’s daytime drama Passions.

The musical also currently stars Carolee Carmello, Judy McLane, Gina Ferrall, Chris Peluso, Sean Allan Krill, Pearce Bunting, Ben Livingston, Ben Gettinger, Samantha Eggers, Amina Robinson, and Raymond J. Lee. The ensemble features Brent Black, Timothy Booth, Allyson Carr, Lanene Charters, Meghan Dreyfuss, Matthew Farver, Lori Haley Fox, Heidi Godt, Jon-Erik Goldberg, Frankie James Grande, Corey Greenan, Bryan Scott Johnson, Monica Kapoor, Robin Levine, Corinne Melançon, Ian Paget, Courtney Reed, Ryan Sander, Collette Simmons, Traci Victoria, and Leah Zepel.
