Beck, Cash, Eaves, Keating, et al. Set for Ars Nova’s Playlist

Christopher Abbott, Cassie Beck, Aya Cash, Dashiell Eaves, Isabel Keating, Sue Jean Kim, Zach Shaffer, and Greg Stuhr will star in Playlist, at Ars Nova January 22-25.

Playlist features short plays inspired by songs and includes works by Annie Baker, Bekah Brunstetter, Evan Cabnet, Dylan Dawson, Liz Flahive, Sam Forman, Nick Jones, Steven Levenson, Barry Levey, Carly Mensch, Rachel Shukert, Mat Smart, Adam Szymkowicz, and Samuel Brett Williams; direction by Evan Cabnet, Sam Gold, Shira Milikowsky, Meredith McDonough, and Kerry Whigham; and a live band led by Lucas Papaelias.

Ars Nova’s 2009 season will also include Two Girls for Five Bucks (March 11-28), featuring Cathleen Carr and Daiva Deupree with their band The Ten Dollar Heartbreakers in a comedy bonanza of loneliness, insecurity and desperation. Andy Donald will direct.

In addition, Ars Nova will present a range of events as part of its Residency Encores series, featuring Jeffery Self: People I Slept With Who Never Called Me Back (January 31 and February 7), Adira Amram Is: An American Idol (February 4 and 11), and Just Jump! (February 6 and 13). Their Out Loud series will feature Putting the Days to Bed by Deron Bos (January 12),Pure by A. Rey Pamatmat (February 2), and The Frat by Samuel Brett Williams (March 16). Their Tragedy Tomorrow series will feature The Jingle Jangle Sisters (January 29), Brown Ambition (February 5), and What Philosophy Majors Do After College (February 19). Their Uncharted series will include Tony Carnevale’s Greatest Hits (February 3), Miracles of Modern Science (February 10), and 357 Lover: An Evening of Unfinished Rock Operas and Concept Albums (February 17). Additional special events will include Goodbye Picasso’s The Book of Aylene (January 8), Johnny Gallagher (January 9 and 10), Showgasm (January 30), Happy F***ing Valentines Day with TastiSkank (February 14), Our Lady J: Left to Her Own Devices (February 18), and Radio Play (February 20 and 21).
