Arthur French to Star in Leslie Lee’s The Book of Lambert at La MaMa

Arthur French will star in the world premiere of Leslie Lee’s The Book of Lambert, to play La MaMa E.T.C. February 13-March 1. Cyndy A. Marion will direct.

This psychological drama revolves around the lives of six lost souls hiding from society in the subterranean depths of an abandoned NYC subway tunnel. The cast will also feature Gloria Sauve, Joresa Blount, Clinton Faulkner, Sadrina Johnson, Heather Massie, Omrae D. Smith, and Howard L. Wieder. The creative team will include Andis Gjoni (set), Russel Phillip Drapkin (lighting), David B. Thompson (costumes), Joe Gianono (sound), and Michael Chin (fight choreography).

French most recently appeared on Broadway in Dividing the Estate, and his many additional Main Stem credits include Mule Bone, Design for Living, You Can’t Take It With You, and Ain’t Supposed to Die a Natural Death. He received a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance in Two Trains Running and an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence of Performance.

Lee is best known for The First Breeze of Summer, which was revived earlier this season by the Signature Theatre Company. His Sundown Names and Night-gone Things will have its New York premiere later this season in a co-production between the Negro Ensemble Company and the New Federal Theatre.
